Henrico, VA — Today, May Nivar announced that she raised over $83,000 in the first quarter of 2025 and has over $100,000 cash on hand in her bid for Virginia’s 57th House District – the most competitive battleground district in the Commonwealth.

“I am humbled by the confidence that so many Virginians, especially in my district, have placed in me – from gathering signatures so I can appear on the ballot, to signing up to volunteer, to donating so generously to my campaign. I’m proud to be building a coalition of grassroots supporters who will help us flip the 57th from Red to Blue this November,” said Nivar.

“As your next Delegate, I will work to build an economy that works for everyone, strengthen our public schools, keep our communities safe, and defend our fundamental rights,” continued Nivar. “While extremists in Washington jeopardize the livelihoods of Virginians and put our economy into freefall, my Republican opponent has stayed silent. Moreover, he actively supports an abortion ban and has continuously voted against lowering housing costs and getting guns off our streets. His extreme views are wrong and out of touch with the 57th. Over the next several months, I look forward to having meaningful conversations about my vision to effectuate positive change in our communities.”

May Nivar is a business leader, community organizer, and mother of three children — including two daughters — who has raised her family in the Greater Richmond area for over two decades. In 2017, Governor Terry McAuliffe appointed her to the Virginia Asian Advisory Board, where she served in executive leadership for four years. Her opponent, Republican Delegate David Owen, is the least effective legislator in all of Virginia.
